NETANYAHU: We intend to extend the current school year until next July

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced today, Sunday, that his government will extend the current school year until the end of next July in order to compensate students for the lessons they missed due to the Corona pandemic.

Netanyahu's statements came during a press conference he held with Education Minister Yoav Galant and other government officials, confirming the extension of the school year to all grades, starting from kindergarten to grade 11 in high school ... according to what the Israeli newspaper Yediot Aharranot reported today on its website. Mail.

The Israeli Prime Minister emphasized that the detailed plan for this procedure has not yet been fully formulated or agreed upon with the teachers union.

He added, "We and the Minister of Education present to you a plan to extend the school year until the end of next July," stressing, "We must ensure that all children are given an opportunity to make up for what they missed."

He also indicated that he would personally ensure that faculty members were compensated for the extra time they would have to work.

The Israeli newspaper pointed out that despite the government plan, it appears that the school year will not be extended to grade 12 students at the secondary level in order not to delay their recruitment into the Israeli army.
