The Secretary of the United Nations to "the head of the Yemeni government": Yemen needs urgent support and an end to the war



The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, expressed his concern about the war escalation in the Marib Governorate and its humanitarian repercussions on the population and the displaced, in addition to the many victims who fall there, reiterating his call for a complete ceasefire and for everyone to engage in a peace debate.


According to Al-Arabiya Al-Hadath channel, the Secretary-General of the United Nations confirmed, in a telephone conversation, Tuesday, with the President of the Yemeni government, Maeen Abdul-Malik, his interest in the Yemeni people, adding that they are a great people and need urgent support, and an end to the war.


The Yemeni prime minister reviewed the priorities of his government and the challenges it faces, including the economic deterioration, the collapse of the national currency, and the implications for the humanitarian situation in the country, expressing appreciation for Guterres's understanding of the urgent priority to support the government, the economy and currency stability, as a basis for addressing the humanitarian crisis.


The Yemeni prime minister added, "I highly appreciate his call for the necessity to end the war in Yemen and build a sustainable peace that ends the suffering of Yemenis, and achieves stability and prosperity for Yemen and the region," stressing the need to take firm positions regarding the escalation and crimes of the Houthis against civilians and displaced people in Marib.
