The Austrian Foreign Minister, Alexander Schallenberg, announced Austria's decision to ban the Lebanese Hezbollah, with its political and military wings, noting that this step reflects the reality of the group itself that does not distinguish between the military and political arm, expressing his regret that no progress has been made regarding the UN Security Council's call to disarm Hezbollah God".

Alexander considered that Hezbollah poses a serious threat to the stability of the region.

The European Union had banned the activities of the military arm of Hezbollah, while allowing its political wing to operate despite criticism.

Other European countries that have banned Hezbollah completely include the Netherlands, Germany, Estonia, the Czech Republic and Slovenia.
