Borrell: We have the resources to help Lebanon, but reforms must be implemented first

The European Union's foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, said on Saturday that he sent a stern message to all Lebanese officials, stressing that there are resources to help Lebanon, but reforms must be implemented first, according to "Russia Today".

After his meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun in Baabda, Borrell expressed his solidarity and support for the Lebanese army, and his concern about Lebanon.

He stressed that the European Union is ready to play its role in providing continuous and direct support to the Lebanese people.

Borrell called on leaders in Lebanon to assume their responsibilities and form a government, and said: "We are ready to help the Lebanese people, and if the crisis is not resolved, we will adopt other options, and we hope that we will not have to."

He added: "The sanctions are on the table and we are discussing them and I hope that no decision will be made on them."

Borrell considered that the crisis facing Lebanon is the result of mismanagement and not the presence of the displaced.
