Ministry of Petroleum: We are coordinating with Agriculture to provide nitrogenous fertilizers to boost production

Engineer Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, received the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation at the headquarters of the Ministry of Petroleum.


The two ministers stressed that this meeting comes within the framework of keenness to support all means of effective cooperation in the field of fertilizers for the benefit of consumers and in the context of activating the government's directions to achieve full coordination between ministries, increase joint cooperation and make optimal use of the available capabilities to achieve the plans of each ministry.


During the meeting, they reviewed the position of the fertilizer market and the mechanisms applied for the fertilizer companies' commitment to supply the quotas set for the Ministry of Agriculture during the peak season locally.

The meeting also discussed supporting the role of MOPCO, which is affiliated with the petroleum sector, which is the largest local producer of urea fertilizers.


The Minister of Agriculture reviewed the current procedures in the fertilizer market, referring to the mechanism of applying a fee issued on nitrogenous fertilizers within the framework of market control procedures.


The meeting was attended by chemist Saad Helal, head of the Egyptian Petrochemical Holding Company, accountant Hisham Noureddine, head of MOPCO, and Dr. Abbas El-Shinawy, head of the agricultural services sector at the Ministry of Agriculture.
