The volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Algeria increased by 14% during the first quarter of 2021


The report of the Egyptian-Algerian Commercial Representation Office revealed that the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Algeria increased during the first quarter of this year (January - March 2021) by (+14%) to reach 215 million US dollars compared to the same period of the previous year 2020, in which the volume of Trade between the two countries is about $188.6 million.


According to the report, Egyptian exports achieved a +10% increase to reach $174.3 million, compared to $159.3 million during the same period last year, in which they reached $159.3 million. Egyptian imports from Algeria also increased during the first quarter of this year. By a large percentage, it reached +39%, reaching a value of 40 million dollars, after it was 29.3 million dollars during the same period last year.


Egypt ranked 14th in the list of countries exporting to Algeria, and 23rd in the list of countries importing from Algeria.


The report stated that the most important Egyptian exports to Algeria during the first quarter of this year were soy oil with a value of about $31.3 million, followed by food preparations for oncology patients with a value of $20 million, then white beans with a value of $10.1 million, copper wires with a value of $10 million, and fodder Animals $9 million, polyethylene $9 million, polyethylene foil $6.2 million, woven fabrics $3.8 million, other woven fabrics of different colors of filaments $3.5 million, granite cut into blocks or slabs $3.1 million.


The list of Egyptian exports from Algeria witnessed the entry of some new items, including animal feed with a value of 9 million dollars, which represents 5.2% of the total Egyptian exports to Algeria during that period, dextrin and other types of modified starch with a value of about 664 thousand dollars, representing 0.35% of the total of those exports. , as well as paper and paperboard with a weight not exceeding 150 g, at a value of $480,000, representing 0.28% of the total of those exports.


As for the list of Egyptian imports from Algeria, liquid gas of all kinds is one of its most important items, with a value of about $39.3 million, which represents 97% of the total Egyptian imports from Algeria during that period, achieving an increase of 53% compared to its value ($25.7 million) during the same period. from last year.


The list also included cotton threads worth $300,000, car tires worth $255,000, cement additives worth $190,000, and styrene polymers worth $184,000.
