European Ambassador to Lebanon: We are ready to support sustainable policies to improve the conditions of the Lebanese people

The European Union has expressed its readiness to support the sustainable policies of the government of Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati in order to improve the conditions of the Lebanese, in light of the complex crises the country is going through at all levels.

The European Union Ambassador to Lebanon, Ralph Tarraf, stressed in a statement today, Saturday, that the announcement of the formation of the Lebanese government headed by Najib Mikati provides opportunities to move forward in the reform process while taking the necessary measures to save Lebanon from its crisis.

Tarraf added that the EU is ready to support sustainable policies to improve the situation of citizens.

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, Policy and Security and Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, welcomed yesterday the formation of the new Lebanese government, considering that the government's announcement is a key to addressing the current economic, financial and social crises, implementing long-awaited reforms, and preparing for the upcoming elections next year.

It is worth noting that Lebanese President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister Najib Mikati signed yesterday a decree to form the new government, which includes twenty-four ministers, in the presence of Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, after a 13-month government vacuum since the resignation of the government of Dr. Hassan Diab on the tenth of August. In the aftermath of the Beirut seaport explosion, the government continued the longest conduct of business in Lebanon's history.
