Lebanese Prime Minister: The rights of depositors in banks are a top priority

The media office of the Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati confirmed that he gives the rights of depositors in Lebanese banks the highest priority, and has requested that it be included as an essential item in the ministerial statement, and it will be followed up mainly after the government gains confidence.

Mikati's media office denied what was circulated in the media that the Prime Minister asked the Governor of the Banque du Liban to freeze the discussion regarding raising the price of dollar deposits in banks and to keep them paid at the exchange rate of 3900 pounds to the dollar.

The media office of the Prime Minister confirmed that this is not true, and any decision in this file is within the authority of the Central Council of the Banque du Liban, stressing that Mikati did not interfere in this particular issue at all.
