United Nations Special Coordinator: The rapid investigation of the Beirut port explosion will be a benchmark for an independent and effective judiciary


 The United Nations Special Coordinator in Lebanon, Ioana Frontka, stressed that the rapid investigation of the Beirut sea port explosion will be a benchmark for an independent and effective judiciary in Lebanon.

This came during her meeting today with the Lebanese Minister of Justice, Henry Khoury, to discuss the role of the judiciary and the challenges it faces in light of the challenges the country is witnessing.

 

Frontka thanked the Minister of Justice for the fruitful discussion that took place between them today, as the two sides discussed the overall situation on the Lebanese arena and activating means of bilateral cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and the organization in the judicial and legal fields.

 

Frontka expressed her interest in the functioning of the judiciary in Lebanon and its independence.
